When it comes to dating a ladyboy, there are two potential outcomes. Both are definitely not straight, but neither is necessarily gay:
1.) A man falls in love with a ladyboy, a crossdresser who still has all of his masculine features but who uses estrogen, may have developed breasts, and seems quite feminine, whom he later learns is... nevertheless still have a penis and testicles. The male dating the ladyboy is unaffected by having male parts; they continue to be in a relationship and engage in sex. Is this correct? No. Because a straight man would find it annoying that there are testicles bouncing about every time he rides the ladyboy. Or perhaps a penis that needs to be "tucked away" for comfort. A'straight' male experiences too much cognitive dissonance.
2.) A man has a ladyboy crush on him even though he is completely aware of this fact. He doesn't give a damn and may have targeted exclusively ladyboys on purpose. There is something that a ladyboy simply possesses that a girl simply cannot, and that something is obviously male genitalia. They may have persuaded him to become a ladyboy. He wouldn't have pursued ladyboys if he was a strict straight man, would he?
Some males have an interest. They seem to want to mess around with other men's trash. However, that would be gay! And he is NOT AT ALL homosexual. I'm not gay, bro! But what if the person who possesses the penis and testicles actually has breasts, long hair, wears makeup, and has a feminine appearance? This enables him to maintain his sense of morality despite engaging in clearly immoral behavior.
Overall, I don't think it's accurate to generalize that every male who dates and engages in sexual activity with ladyboys is gay. However, I contend that no male who dates and engages in sexual activity with ladyboys is strictly straight.
